Welcome

Hello and welcome to our site.  Before going further, please read the UDATES below!

This site was created to help bury Jennifer Lynn Bubb (12/2/96 - 7/16/2010).  Jenny passed away July 16, 2010 at 13 years of age.  Jenny's death followed a kidney transplant for which she had waited many, many months.  Her body rejected the kidney she had waited so long to receive, and she experienced cardiac arrest.  The minutes spent without a heartbeat caused irreversible brain damage and sent Jenny into a coma from which she did not wake.

Jenny's family life was challenging from the beginning.  In 2009, she became a ward of the state and would have gone into the foster care system if her aunt and uncle, Kathy and John Baker, had not stepped up to take care of her.  Jenny was mentally handicapped and was not easy to parent.  She was on many, many medications each day and received dialysis each night.  Under the conscientious care and love of her aunt and uncle, Jenny's last year of life was the best she had ever had.  The hope of a new kidney was the promise of a life without dialysis and the chance to be more normal.  Nobody expected what happened.

Because Jenny was still legally the state of Pennsylvania's child at the time of her death (Kathy and John were working on custody), she had no insurance to help pay for her burial costs.  The only option offered by the state was to donate Jenny's body to science and they would compensate by cremating her.  This was not an option Kathy and John wanted for their niece.  With your help, we are now able to give this final gesture of love and kindness to this sweet, innocent young girl who endured more challenges in her 13 year of life than most people will ever know.

7/21/2010 - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

As of noon today, we have raised $2,226 with this site.  In addition, a donor is sending a check to Sovereign Bank in the amount of $1,100!!  The first $1,000 is from him, and the additional $100 is from a friend of his.  At this point, we are asking that contributions stop as enough has been raised to lay Jenny to rest properly.  However, the site will stay up because additional funds will be donated to a scholarship in Jenny Bubb's name to serve special needs kids at Jenny's school.  Kathy has talked about doing an annual fundraising event to add funds to the scholarship, so if you are interested in donating, please know that the money will be going to a great cause in Jenny's memory.

Words truly cannot express the gratitude Kathy and her family have for each person who has prayed, spread the word, and/or donated.  As Kathy said, she was literally raised up out of a pit of despair by your generosity after being told the state would not cover the cost of burial.  God has done an amazing work, and each of you has truly blessed this family and sweet Jenny at this time of need.  Of course, the miracle we wanted was for Jenny to heal and be well, but the work God has done following the passing of Jenny is enough to prove how deeply our Heavenly Father loves us.

Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness!  God bless you and yours!!

7/20/2010 - SECOND UPDATE (updated again 10:20 PM and 10:55 PM and 11:48 PM)

Saying, "Thank you," barely seems to convey the appreciation felt for the generosity and support shown to help lay Jenny to rest, but it's what we have, so, "THANK YOU!"  As of right now, this site has now raised $2,101 to help pay for the funeral costs.  Kathy met with the funeral home this morning, and the expense is going to be $4,800, but that does NOT include a headstone ($1,400) or the burial plot and digging ($1,000).  Thus, the site will stay up until we can properly bury Jenny AND pay for a decent marker for her grave.  Thank you for sharing the site and passing the word and making a contribution of any amount - it all helps!

For those who are interested, Jenny's obituary was published today.  It is available online here.

In addition, I just received an email from a gentleman graciously offering to donate $1,000.  Can I get an, "Amen!"??  Thank you, sir.  Your offer exceeds all expectations.  Blessings to you and your family.

7/19/2010 - FIRST UPDATE
After only 2+ hours, you have helped raise over $830 dollars for the Baker family to pay for the costs of Jenny's funeral!!  This has FAR exceeded the expectations when the site was created.  I just spoke with Kathy, and she is beyond grateful for the generous donations from so many people, some of whom she doesn't even know.  She received some great information today from a family with a long history of working in the burial business, and she meets with the funeral home tomorrow.  She has decided that any funds which exceed what they need for the funeral (estimated between $3,000 and $5,000) will be donated to Jenny's school as the teachers want to set up a scholarship in Jenny's name for special needs students.  So THANK YOU a million times over for your prayers, generosity, and compassion!  You have blessed this family in more ways than monetarily, and I'm sure even Jenny is impressed as she watches the events unfolding.

7/19/2010 - Website Launch
Jenny's viewing and memorial service will be held this Friday, July 23, 2010.  I am confident we can raise the needed money to fund a proper funeral and burial for Jenny.  Please pass this site along to everyone you know.  If 3,000 people donated only $1.00, we could do right by Jenny.  Please share this with your pastors, co-workers, friends, and family members!

In addition to financial contributions, all prayer for the Baker family is appreciated.  We trust that Jenny is safe in the arms of the Lord and is no longer in pain, but the family left behind is still mourning the loss of their beloved niece and, for all intents and purposes, daughter.  Thank you for visiting, thank you for giving, and thank you for sharing this site with everyone you know!
